Ammaliante sui social, strepitosa nelle performance al piano. Lunghi capelli fluenti, sguardo seducente e un corpo mozzafiato inguainato in abiti di haute couture dalle scollature e dagli spacchi vertiginosi, Lola Astanova ci seduce con un’immagine di innegabile bellezza e con quelle note che suonano America.
Già vincitrice di un Emmy Award per la “Rapsodia in blu” di Gershwin, ad ogni concerto ci conduce per mano in un viaggio dove la routine, i problemi, le preoccupazioni del quotidiano rimangono fuori dalla porta. «Nell’ultimo periodo ho sviluppato una sensibilità maggiore rispetto al tema della fugacità del nostro tempo. Vorrei riuscire a trarne il meglio, lavorare per raggiungere i miei obiettivi, concentrarmi sulle persone e sulle cose che mi danno gioia. Non voglio spendere il mio tempo per qualcosa che non mi soddisfa o che non mi fa stare bene.»
Suona dall’età di sei anni e nel 2012 è stata annoverata dalla rivista “Limelight” tra le dieci icone di stile nella musica classica. Un sogno che si è avverato.
«Per quanto riesca a ricordare, ho voluto sempre suonare e avere successo. Considero la fama un aspetto del successo ma non il più importante. Voglio sapere che quello che faccio mi soddisfa, e per me vale molto più di essere famosi. Essere famosi ma infelici nella scelta della propria carriera sarebbe una tortura. Inoltre non prendo mai la fama molto sul serio: è divertente, certo, ma ci sono cose più importanti nella vita.»
Nata a Tashkent in Uzbekistan, Lola Astanova rimane fedele alle proprie radici musicali e al desiderio di rendere ogni esibizione “una storia d’amore elegante e appassionata”.
«Per secoli tutti i grandi artisti hanno cercato di descrivere l’amore ma non so se qualcuno sia riuscito a catturarlo completamente. Forse l’amore non ha bisogno di spiegazioni ma la musica è quanto di più vicino a esprimerlo. È la forma di espressione più pura e universale e, quando è sincera, tocca ogni essere umano, indipendentemente dal genere e dalla cultura di appartenenza.»
Una virtuosa del piano ai giorni nostri.
«Grandi abilità tecniche sono sempre un prerequisito per quel tipo di riconoscimento. Ma ai giorni nostri bisogna essere curiosi, versatili e non dogmatici, per diventare dei veri virtuosi. Suonare le note giuste non basta!»
L’importante è rimanere fedele a sé stessi.
«Non è stato sempre così ma, non appena ho cominciato a fare esattamente quello che ritenevo giusto, ogni cosa ha iniziato a sistemarsi e le porte ad aprirsi.»
Riuscire ad emergere in un mondo di uomini.
«Per avere successo in un mondo fatto di uomini e godere dello stesso rispetto e delle stesse opportunità, le donne devono lavorare di più e primeggiare. E anche allora, molti cercheranno altri modi per scavalcarti e sminuirti, ma devi solo continuare a dimostrare loro che si sbagliano.»

«A differenza di quanti ridicolmente gonfiano il numero dei loro seguaci e acquistano pacchetti di like (ed è incredibile quanta gente lo faccia!), ognuno dei miei follower è una persona reale con la propria storia, simpatie e antipatie, speranze e sfide. È questo ciò che li rende così importanti e preziosi. Sento quella certa vicinanza e penso ai miei seguaci come alla mia “famiglia di Instagram e Facebook”. La loro presenza nella mia vita è davvero reale.»
Moltissimi estimatori anche nel nostro Belpaese.
«In Italia ho molti amici e fan. È il Paese dai gusti ricchi e dai colori vivaci; dell’arte e dello stile senza tempo e, a tutti gli effetti, la culla della civiltà occidentale.»
Ha dichiarato che “non ci si può esibire vestiti male in un teatro dove c’è pubblico pagante”.
«Penso che tutti vengano a un concerto con la speranza di riuscire a sperimentare qualcosa di speciale, qualcosa di avvincente, di memorabile… ed è mio compito condurli per mano in questo viaggio e far loro dimenticare la routine quotidiana, il lavoro, i problemi, le preoccupazioni. Voglio che la gente lasci il mio concerto dicendo: “Wow, non vedo l’ora di rifarlo!”.»

«For as long as I can remember myself, I wanted to play music and be successful at it. I consider fame one of the measures of success, but not the most important one. I want to know that what I do fulfills me and that is worth a lot more to me than fame. To be famous, but miserable in one’s career choice would be torture. I also don’t take fame very seriously: it’s fun, but there are more important things in life.»
Born in Tashkent in Uzbekistan, Lola Astanova remains true to her musical roots and her desire to make every performance “an elegant and passionate love affair”.
«Great artists have tried to describe love for centuries, but I don’t know if anyone’s managed to completely capture it. Maybe it needs no explanation, but music does come close to expressing it. It’s the most universal and pure form of expression, and when it’s “spoken” honestly, it touches every human, no matter what generation or culture they belong to.»

«Great technical skills are always a pre-requisite for that title. But in our time, I believe, one must also be curious, versatile and non-dogmatic to be a true virtuoso. Just hitting the right notes on the piano is not good enough.»
